Thrilld Labs Partners with UN:BLOCK Fintech

We’re thrilld to collaborate with the team behind UN:BLOCK, this time for their Fintech edition. UN:Block Fintech will be held on the 15th of October in Riga, Latvia, promising to be one of Europe’s most practical fintech gatherings. Rather than focusing on abstract trends, the conference is designed to be more about the regulatory, operational, and commercial challenges that are being actively faced by financial institutions and, indeed, fintech companies today.

With more than 600 attendees expected, the programme aims to combine keynote presentations, panel discussions, firesides and interactive workshops, giving participants direct access to regulators, compliance experts, financial institutions, and tech providers.

Throughout the day, the programme covers the practicalities of building financial products within the European Union. In addition, alongside discussions on MiCA, PSD3, DORA, Stablecoins, digital identity, and tokenisation, attendees can join workshops covering AML and MLRO qualifications, step-by-step licensing pathways for MiCA, e-money institutions, payment institutions, and crowdfunding platforms, as well as live compliance clinics (more about that below) with legal and regulatory specialists. The agenda essentially combines strategic discussions with proactive guidance that helps delegates apply learned concepts within their own organisations. Fantastic!

Another highlight is the event’s focus on Latvia’s growing role as a European fintech hub. The country is now home to 127 (fintech companies, generating approx. €400 million in annual turnover and contributing more than €91 million in taxes.  And, as more and more digital assets companies seek regulated access to the European market, Riga has also become an increasingly attractive destination for businesses coping with MiCA licensing, payment services and digital finance regulation. UN:Fintech creates, we think, a very valuable opportunity to connect directly with the regulators, institutions, and companies actively building the pan-European and national ecosystem. 

Beyond the main stage, UN:BLOCK Fintech offers a range of structured activities, which include learning more about Latvia’s position as an EU licensing gateway, hearing directly from Latvijas Banka about its regulatory sandbox, and taking part in live compliance clinics which will be offering 15-minute advisory sessions with AML specialists and compliance lawyers. It never hurts to be well-informed.

The speaker lineup includes professionals like Can Sun from Backpack EU, Jakub Wieclaw from Magnetiq Bank, Agenta Rumpa from Sorainen, and Edgars Kokins from Bolt and many more.

What we love is how there is also a dedicated session on stables under MiCA, looking at topics such as EMT versus ART classification, reserve requirements, and redemption rights for teams building or integrating stablecoins into EU payment flows. And with lunch, coffee, structured networking, and a post-event cocktail party included in the ticket, the event does leave plenty of room for the conversations to flow naturally outside the formal sessions as well.
