We’re thrilld to announce a community networking partnership with the Virginia Blockchain Council (VBC), a registered 501(c)(6) non-profit and non-partisan organization which is building a confident and well-informed blockchain and digital asset constituency in the state of Virginia. To this end, they advocate through grassroots initiatives, community growth and academic partnerships, which ultimately further explore research & development, use cases, products and knowledge into blockchain technology.

VBC is running into its 8th year, after beginning in 2017 the group evolved out of the Bitcoin Blockchain community meetup in 2022. Presently, VBC includes 1,400 participants in Virginia alone and is also a part of the North American Blockchain Association (NABA) as well as the United States Blockchain Council (USBC). The organizations promote the development of blockchain technologies throughout the United States and North American Continent.

doThrough community initiatives, individuals have access to an extensive network of blockchain enthusiasts and professionals in the Virginia region, as well as the benefits afforded by VBC’s commitment to knowledge building and information sharing.

As part of this agenda, VBC provides:

  • monthly meetups to discuss various topics related to blockchain technology and Web3;
  • networking sessions with enthusiasts and professionals working in blockchain in the Virginia area;
  • access to community initiatives such as member spotlights and engagement with local players from various backgrounds, including senators, professionals working in blockchain, and university students too!
  • educational resources relating to all things digital assets, regulations and more which spurs conversations on policy, economic impact, and the future of decentralized technology.

Furthermore, VBC is open to blockchain professionals as well as those who are just getting started, creating a collaborative and welcoming environment. Through community growth, advocacy, and education – the three pillars of VBC – the goal is to strengthen the blockchain scene in Virginia, positioning the state as a leading destination for the future of the internet…

An integral part of the council, as previously mentioned, is education. In particular, VBC focuses on sharing the latest updates and news on the regulatory framework surrounding blockchain in Virginia. In this way, the organization is heavily involved in the native legislative scene. Through advocacy in the legislature, they introduce reforms fostering innovation, regulatory clarity, and economic growth. They write, “By collaborating with industry experts, entrepreneurs and stakeholders, our lawmakers must develop a comprehensive regulatory framework that balances innovation, consumer protection and the mitigation of potential risks (VBC - Advocacy)”.

In addition to legislation advocacy, the council also works to educate its own members on the latest regulations to support them in informed decision-making. For VBC, “Community is our super power”. Indeed, community is at the heart of VBC. And the collaborative nature around blockchain is further encouraged through a range of events, mixers, and educational exchanges which set the stage for knowledge sharing and networking.

The blockchain landscape is looking up in Virginia after it was taken up again in the 2025 legislative session. As RADIO IQ writer Brad Kutner puts it, “Blockchain technology is back…[in] an effort to allow businesses to use high tech to conduct transactions [blockchain] is the newest trend that elected officials are considering” (RADIO IQ). Communities such as the Virginia Blockchain Council are a lot of important work. In this way, whether a trend or a slow period, blockchain isn’t just hyped up, but built up.

As part of a community partnership, the Thrilld app can be used to direct engagement among VBC community members and the wider Web3 community. They can also display their affiliation with the community and create personalized profiles in order to easily connect, collaborate and expand one's network.

"Community and networking have always been at the core of what we do at the Virginia Blockchain Council," said Greg Leffel, Executive Director and Founder of VBC. "Partnering with the Thrilld app allows us to supercharge those efforts. It gives our members and broader network the tools they need to connect, collaborate, and build the future of blockchain together. We're excited for what’s ahead."

We are also thrilld to partner with the Virginia Blockchain Council and see what the future holds for blockchain in Virginia.
