We’re thrilld to announce an official networking partnership with Kenya Blockchain and Crypto Conference (KBCC), happening this June 12-13 in Nairobi, Kenya at the ASK Dome. This year’s theme, “Driving Blockchain Innovation and Mass Adoption,” highlights the country’s growing role as a leader in blockchain technology across the continent.
The event targets those shaping the future of blockchain in Kenya, including startups, financial institutions, developers, regulators, corporates, government agencies, academic institutions, media and communities. Essentially, through Kenya the event provides a window into the wider potential of blockchain, Web3, and cryptocurrencies for economic development on the African continent.
Furthermore, at the event, attendees can look forward to:
- 800+ attendees, 100+ speakers;
- Hands-on information sessions, policy roundtables, startup pitches, a Web3 developers track, and community-led conversations that move the ecosystem forward;
- Exhibitions of the latest advancements, products, and services in the Kenyan blockchain ecosystem;
- Designated time for networking opportunities – also by using Thrilld – with industry professionals, ending with an Ankara themed after party.
This year is the Kenya Blockchain and Crypto Conference’s third and most defining edition. Why? This year dialogue and action intersect, so that where policy meets innovation, local solutions meet global best practices. Thus, at KBCC ideas aren’t just talk to talk, but the individuals building and creating these projects are given the floor where they can walk the talk :). The event is all about empowering these voices and hearing from the local community, but also offering a comparative and constructive lens to further the sustainable growth of these startups.
On Day 2 of the event, the focus shifts to builders, developers, startups, and the growing Web3 community in Kenya and beyond.
In other words, how Web3 actually works itself out in the real-world… with real people and real impact. As such, the day features sessions on the practical tools, infrastructure, and strategies powering decentralized innovation. To this end, start-ups can benefit by attending breakout sessions in the “Startup Track” which provide a variety of sessions on the growth process in the Web3 space. For example, key questions on raising, scaling, and staying alive in bear markets are addressed and workshops like go-to-market strategies will be made available.
Yet these types of sessions aren’t for startups alone. In another series of breakout sessions, a developer track delves into further sessions like interoperability and cross-chain dev in practice and the spotlight is put on the teams themselves. In exploring what teams are building right now, a live demo is held to showcase these projects. Hereby, KBCC provides a deep dive into the developing Kenyan Web3 landscape.
Taking place in Kenya, KBCC focuses in particular on how Web3 and blockchain technologies can impact the African economy.
Indeed, according to “How Blockchain Technology is Transforming Kenya’s Economy,” blockchain is “making waves in Kenya’s economy by helping people send money, get loans, and improve business operations, making life easier and more efficient”. Moreover, the Kenyan government is moving to adapt policies for digital currencies and create a legal framework for blockchain. In this process, the government priority is “to get it right” and so they are speaking with tech companies and legal experts for this reason. For those interested in the regulatory developments and the growing projects in Kenya, KBCC shall bring answers.
What else?
The venue location is set at the ASK Dome in Nairobi, described as for “Meetings With A Twist”. To this end the ASK Dome brings high speed internet. Located in the capital city of Kenya, Nairobi is the principal industrial centre of the country and serves as an introduction to both wildlife and nightlife. Thus, attendees can enjoy Kenya’s long history of music and artistic expression, seeing that Kenya particularly enjoys “a rich tradition of oral and written literature, including many fables that speak the virtues of determination and perseverance, important and widely shared values, given the country’s experience during the struggle for independence” (Britannica). At night music plays lively in clubs and shops and markets bustle with activity. If you need a break from the hustle of business, some of the top sights to visit include the Karen Blixen Museum, Giraffe Centre and the black rhinos Nairobi National Park.
Did you know that the name “Nairobi” even comes from a water hole known to the Maasai people as Enkare Nairobi or “Cold Water”?
As part of the networking partnership, attendees can use Thrilld to connect and discuss business - before, during, and after the event. Attendees can moreover create instant chats, check out the agenda, and find other participants in the dedicated networking environment They can also utilize Thrilld’s hyperlocalisation function, configure meetings and explore side events.
