Born in Madagascar and based in Daegu, South Korea, Mahalinoro holds a Master’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Kyungpook National University. She is interested in emerging technologies and is researching the integration of blockchain, trust management systems, and the Internet of Vehicles. At Thrilld Labs, we are working with individuals from around the world, each bringing unique experiences, perspectives, and skills. We are thrilld to introduce the most recent addition, Mahalinoro Razafimanjato, a Madagascar national and tech enthusiast!
Mahalinoro joined Thrilld Labs in July as a Software Engineering Trainee, where she will be working alongside our CTO, Jesse Wachtel, on the decentralised ticketing and event management app as well as on our smart contracts.. She holds a Master’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Kyungpook National University in Daegu, South Korea. Mahalinoror is passionate about emerging technologies and enjoys solving complex problems. Her graduate research explored the integration of blockchain, trust management systems, and the Internet of Vehicles. In addition to research, she is skilled in data analysis and web development.
In this interview, we had the chance to speak with Mahalinoro about her journey and thoughts on Web3. Read on to find more about why Mahalinoro joined Thrilld Labs and Web3, as well as what she hopes to accomplish and learn through the Traineeship…
What motivated you to join Thrilld Labs?
Initially, I was not familiar with Thrilld Labs. As I was regularly checking my messages from a group where career-related opportunities were shared, it was there that I got to know about the traineeship Thrilld Labs provided, which immediately caught my attention. Upon reading the description, I thought it was an excellent opportunity presented precisely at the right moment, aligning perfectly with my interest in Web3. I began researching Thrilld Labs to better understand the company's mission and offerings.
What particularly drew my attention was the networking app, designed to facilitate connections within the Web3 community, from professional investors to developers. As someone who firmly believes in the value of networking, I found this application highly relevant and promising. It was clear to me that Thrilld Labs was building a platform that people would deeply appreciate and find incredibly useful, especially as both the company and the broader Web3 ecosystem continue to expand. Which is why I thought it would be meaningful to contribute and join Thrilld Labs and see what the future holds.
Having recently completed my master's degree, where my research primarily focused on Blockchain, trust management systems, and the Internet of Vehicles, I was actively seeking practical experiences that would leverage my blockchain background. The traineeship seemed ideal, providing a chance to gain hands-on experience within a dynamic, global startup environment, complemented by mentorship. Such an environment appeals greatly to me, as it fosters creativity and encourages proactive contributions.
Not only that, but I was genuinely thrilled by the enthusiasm, passion, and diversity of the people at Thrilld Labs, particularly by Alex and Jesse, who are clearly committed to a shared vision and goal. Hence, joining Thrilld Labs represents an exciting opportunity for me to grow professionally, contribute, and be part of a team dedicated to advancing Web3.
What technical or fundamental aspects do you find most intriguing about Web3?
The most intriguing aspects for me are the underlying blockchain technology used to securely record and verify transactions, and the use of smart contracts to automate the logic and functionalities of the applications. Additionally, the principles of decentralization, transparency, and tamper-resistant records that blockchain provides greatly intrigue me, as they fundamentally reshape trust and interaction models within digital ecosystems.
In other words, Web3 provides a transformative shift, moving internet control from centralized entities to decentralized users, empowering users with increased authority over their data and online interactions.
How do you see Web3 evolve in the future, especially from a technology perspective?
Web3 has greatly evolved compared to its initial stages. Blockchain, as a core emerging technology underpinning Web3, has been extensively researched within academia, particularly concerning solutions to the blockchain trilemma, balancing decentralization, performance, and security. Many improvements and optimizations are currently underway, aiming to enable blockchain platforms to scale comparably to established traditional systems capable of processing millions of transactions.
With these continued advancements, Web3 is anticipated to reach a level of scalability and user-friendliness that will attract substantial adoption. While widespread knowledge and use of Web3 remain limited, the near future will likely witness a substantial increase in user migration toward Web3. This shift will allow more people to experience and benefit from the decentralization advantages that Web3 offers.
What do you hope to learn through this Traineeship?
I aim to refresh and improve my development skills, particularly since I have not done so in recent years. I am eager to realign myself with current Web3 practices and discover innovative tools and resources that I have probably never heard about, some of which I have already begun exploring, thanks to Jesse and his guidance.
I also look forward to building my confidence and improving my communication and collaboration skills throughout this traineeship. I am also excited about the opportunity to build a network within the Web3 space and gain deeper insights into the ecosystem.
