We sat down with Aakansha and inquired about her inspirations for joining Web3 and her thoughts on the space and its future. Here are her thoughts…
What motivated you to join Thrilld Labs?
To be completely frank, I believe Thrilld Labs' values are what initially motivated me to apply for the position. The way it strongly embodies values that I personally care about, i.e., transparency, visibility and fairness, and actually providing an environment where opportunities come from what you can contribute and the ideas you bring to the table with your own talent instead of titles or backgrounds. Giving everyone a fair chance is something that I strongly stand for since most things nowadays can be so restrictive to outsiders.
What also kind of pushed me to apply, regardless of not having much experience in the Web3 Industry, is how Thrilld Labs not only talks about these values but also practices them in a way that builds communities and creates opportunities. Whether it’s building communities like EcstaSHE, fostering collaboration or opening doors for people who want to grow but might not be getting the visibility needed, what really matters is the credibility and talent at Thrilld Labs.
What made you want to join the crypto space?
Last summer, I had the opportunity to attend a seminar about blockchain and cryptocurrency. I have always known what it is and how exactly this space works, but truthfully, I was often intimidated by it. The seminar sort of widened my horizons and opened up my perspective, not just about the technology itself but also the possibilities it creates for people around the world. What attracted me the most about Web3 after getting into it is how decentralized, transparent and empowering it can be to people. The idea that it is the individuals who can directly participate in networks, have control over their own data or assets and can collaborate directly instead of needing the traditionally existing intermediaries and valuing efficiency is what resonated with me.
After having the interview or the talk with the CEO Alex, I also came to realise how Web3 isn’t the traditional closed-off technical world being controlled by a handful of people, but rather a space where creativity, actual applicable problem solving and value-driven innovation can thrive. This insight and shift in my perspectives about the tech or crypto world is what added to my interest and actually got me involved further.
What technical and fundamental aspects do you find most intriguing about Web3?
I think the technical and fundamental aspects I find most intriguing do intertwine with my values and the way I go about in life. Saying that, for me, Decentralisation stands out a lot. The fact that no single entity has control over the system and that ownership and decision-making are distributed across a network. This aspect/idea signifies an actual shift from the way traditional institutions and platforms operate, and is something that signifies empowerment and moving ahead in time for me.
Another thing I am drawn to is transparency. From what I gather, every transaction is recorded on a public ledger, and therefore, since processes become verifiable in a way, it is harder to manipulate or control. In an industry like tech, where trust and transparency are often questioned, the fact that Web3 has it makes it fascinating. Another interesting aspect is digital ownership, through the NFTs or tokens, people can now truly own things in the digital space, and the fact that even real-world assets can be represented online makes it even more fascinating.
Last thing I'd like to add is the blockchain itself. To put it, the way information is stored in blocks, connected and kept secure is something insane to me.
How do you see Web3 evolve in the future?
Honestly, the way I see it is I can see Web3 evolve into something that feels very niche and specific, into something that becomes part of everyday life. Right now, it can be intimidating and even confusing, I have first-hand experience in that, but I believe as the products/services become more user-friendly, easier to access and understand, I can see the adoption growing a lot faster.
I do feel like, in terms of inclusion, I think one of the biggest opportunities can be the financial accessibility. With how uncertain governments have been over the last few years, how liberal governments have been thrown out, which led to freedom being compromised and restrictions being imposed increasingly forcefully, I believe people can benefit from having new ways to save, trade or transfer assets of value. This also makes things more fair and global.
I also believe that Web3 apps have the potential to eventually run in the background of our daily lives, e.g., payments, ownership of digital assets, etc. And ultimately, it can feel as natural and seamless as using the internet for these services today.
Look out for future content and posts written by our content and research team, and more business efforts, by Aakansha now too!
